Hilbre High: License to excel
The Wirral school that taught Bond actor Daniel Craig looks set to produce more stars for the future.
Hilbre High School Humanities College has been named the best performing school for boys studying drama at GCSE in the entire country by influential publication The Good Schools Guide. The prestigious annual awards, which are in their nineth year, are based on a detailed analysis of the most recent exam results and designed to highlight consistently good teaching.
Daniel, currently one of world’s most famous actors thanks to his role as the sixth incarnation of 007 James Bond, grew up in Hoylake and attended Hilbre High, before finding fame in movies including Layer Cake, The Golden Compass, and the Bond series, the latest of which, Spectre, has just been released.
Hilbre High’s drama leaders Joanne Madden and Katie Pearce, said: “It is a tribute to the many boys who have studied GCSE Drama, and is a testament to their passion and commitment. The boys’ enthusiasm, demonstrated in after school and weekend rehearsals, resulted in such
outstanding grades and we are very proud.”
